Suhum, Eastern Region, August 21, 2025
In a significant move to bolster healthcare services and collaboration, the Eastern Regional Health Directorate conducted a senior management familiarization tour of Suhum today. This proactive initiative marks a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of healthcare for all residents in the region.
The tour, a first of its kind for the Directorate, saw the regional leadership engage in productive discussions with the Suhum Municipal Assembly. The Regional Director of Health Services underscored the tour’s objectives: strengthening stakeholder partnerships, boosting the morale of frontline healthcare workers, and advancing progress towards the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A key outcome of the visit was a collaborative effort to address critical infrastructural needs. The Regional Directorate, through the Municipal Health Director, requested the Assembly’s support in securing proper documentation for the Akote and Akorabo Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) facilities. Responding positively, the Acting Municipal Coordinating Director, on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, promptly instructed the Municipal Works and Physical Planning Departments to provide the necessary assistance.
The meeting also highlighted the strong collaborative spirit between the regional leadership and the municipality. The Acting Municipal Coordinating Director commended the high standards of healthcare delivery in Suhum while also outlining specific requests to the Regional Directorate. These included requests for technical support to upskill existing health staff and for additional personnel to facilitate the operationalization of three new healthcare facilities and the construction of two more planned for this year.
This successful familiarization tour exemplifies a new era of proactive collaboration within the Eastern Region’s healthcare system. The proactive engagement between the Regional Health Directorate and the Suhum Municipal Assembly promises to yield significant improvements in healthcare access and quality for the region’s residents, ultimately advancing the vital goals of improved health and well-being for all.
