The Suhum Municipality recently welcomed Hon. Cudjoe Adukpo, the Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), for a crucial visit aimed at bolstering our collective ability to respond to and manage potential disasters.
The visit, which included a meeting with the Suhum Municipal NADMO Directorate, led by Mr. William Anyah, served as a vital opportunity to fortify our disaster preparedness strategies and streamline our response efforts. The discussions focused on key areas essential for a resilient community, including proactive preparedness measures, swift and effective response protocols, and robust recovery plans.
This meeting truly highlighted the critical importance of collaboration. Hon. Adukpo emphasized the unwavering need for a strong partnership between NADMO and all relevant stakeholders within the municipality. This includes local government departments, community leaders, and even the general public. Effective communication and coordinated action are paramount to ensuring a timely and efficient response when disaster strikes. The Regional Director reiterated NADMO’s dedication to providing the support and resources needed to achieve these critical goals.
Beyond operational strategies, the visit also prioritized the well-being of the dedicated individuals who form the backbone of our disaster response efforts. Hon. Adukpo directly addressed the staff, listening to their concerns and exploring avenues to enhance their welfare. This focus on staff support is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness and dedication of the NADMO team, who are often the first responders in times of crisis.
This visit serves as a powerful reminder of NADMO’s commitment to empowering municipal directorates, like ours, with the resources and knowledge needed to effectively mitigate, respond to, and recover from disasters. The Suhum Municipal Assembly is  committed to partnering with NADMO and all community members to build a safer and more resilient Suhum.
