The Suhum Municipal Educational Directorate proudly commemorated itsl Education Excellence Awards on November 14th, 2025, a landmark event honoring outstanding teachers. Under the theme “Inspiring Excellence, Transforming Education,” the ceremony recognized the dedication, innovation, and impact of educators within the municipality.
Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Lydia Ohenewa Sarah, in her speech read by the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Alhaji Abdul-Rahim Tahidu Musah Esq, expressed deep appreciation to the hard working teachers and emphasized the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to fostering a thriving environment where all children can reach their full potential. The awards celebrated the achievements of teachers and schools across the primary and secondary levels, highlighting the vital role education plays in building a brighter future.
The Suhum Municipal Assembly is actively investing in the quality of education through strategic initiatives. Supported by financial resources, including those allocated through the District Assemblies Common Fund, the Assembly is focused on improving educational facilities. Completed procurement processes have already led to the commencement of construction of new classroom blocks, toilet facilities, and mechanized boreholes at Adarkwa M/A Basic School, Akorabo, whiles others are expected to start in the next couple of days.These projects will also include the provision of furniture for both students and teachers. Similar developments are planned for 2026.
This commitment to improving education has yielded positive results. The municipality celebrated an impressive 93% pass rate in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), a testament to the dedication of teachers. The Assembly is committed to strengthening its collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate to further enhance teaching and learning outcomes across all schools.
