The MCE, staff of the Suhum Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders paid a working visit to offices at the Suhum Fire Service Complex,Twelve different institutions, including decentralized Assembly departments, came together for a productive discussion, aimed at improving working conditions and resolving pressing issues.
MCE, in her address, stressed the importance of unity and cooperation. She encouraged open communication and collaboration to achieve the goals of the municipality, adding that her administration is committed to supporting these departments in achieving the goals of the Mahama administration. She also acknowledged the sheer volume of challenges facing the yard and expressed her commitment to tackling them, but one by one.
The meeting revealed a host of issues. Sanitation topped the list, with officers complaining about inadequate facilities – no cleaners, insufficient waste disposal, and lack of decent restrooms. The National Service Secretariat highlighted the Nkukor Nkitinkiti project and sought support. The concerns extended to rental arrangements for funeral ceremonies, and issues with drainage, especially during the rainy season.
The Municipal Chief Director (MCD) responded, outlining the government’s sanitation initiatives and emphasizing the need for cooperation. He promised an inspection by the Municipal Works Engineer to address the washroom and drainage issues. He also pledged to provide clear guidelines and education for those renting the yard for events.
This wasn’t just a meeting; it was a conversation about real needs. Representatives from various departments, including the Ghana National Fire Service, Immigration, the NCCE, the Ambulance Service, National Service, Quality Control, Social Welfare, CHRAJ, the Labour Office, the Children’s Department, and Ghana Water, voiced their concerns and sought solutions.
The meeting concluded with a heartwarming display of appreciation. Security services led the group in morale-boosting songs, demonstrating their dedication and commitment to the MCE and her team. They assured her of their continued support.
