The Suhum Municipal Assembly was one of two Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), Suhum Municipal Assembly (SuMA) and Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) selected to host and participate in the nationwide validation exercise for the training modules on the Local Government Service (LGS) Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH) Policy.
On behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable Lydia Ohenewa Sarah, the Municipal Co-ordinating Director (MCD) welcomed the team from the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS), Heads of Departments, Staff of the Assembly, and participants to the validation exercise.
In his remarks, MCD expressed the Assembly’s appreciation be selected as one of the two MMDAs, nationwide to participate in the validation exercise. He noted that the exercise provided an opportunity for the participants to share their experiences and offer comprehensive and constructive inputs towards ensuring the training modules are practical, relevant, and fit for purpose.
The OHLGS team, led by Mrs. Goldar Asare(Director of Administration), delivered a comprehensive presentation on the various modules of the SEAH Policy. The team highlighted the sensitive and complex nature of SEAH and explained how such issues can affect employee productivity and have broader implications for an organisation.
The participants were also taken through strategies for preventing and addressing SEAH-related cases. The team emphasised that the effective implementation of the policy requires a collective responsibility from Management, Staff, and all stakeholders within the Local Government Service.
Participants actively contributed ideas, observations, and constructive inputs towards improving the SEAH training modules.
In his closing remarks on behalf of the MCE, the MCD once again expressed the Assembly’s gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the finalisation of the SEAH Policy. He appreciated the Local Government Service, the OHLGS team, and all participants for their contributions and commitment to making the exercise successful.
