Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Lydia Ohenewa Sarah, recently led a team on a site visit to the final disposal site  in Betenase located within the Kwahyia Electoral Area. The visit highlighted the municipality’s proactive approach to waste management challenges.
The MCE’s initiative involved deploying heavy machinery to expand and improve the existing landfill site. This crucial upgrade aims to accommodate the increasing volume of waste generated following the municipality’s push for improved hygiene and responsible waste disposal practices across its communities.  The expansion project is a direct response to the growing need for adequate waste management infrastructure in line with Ghana’s national sanitation goals.
Hon. Lydia Ohenewa Sarah acknowledged the temporary inconveniences caused by the ongoing works at the Betenase landfill site and appealed for the patience and cooperation of Betenase residents and the wider Kwahyia Electoral Area.  She emphasized that these improvements are critical steps towards a healthier and cleaner environment for all.
The MCE’s statement underscores the collaborative nature of this initiative, stressing that successful sanitation management requires the collective efforts of every citizen. The project is not merely about infrastructural upgrades but represents a broader strategy that depends on the continued participation and support of the entire community to achieve a lasting transformation in public health and sanitation.
