 SCHOOL IN SUHUM MUNICIPALITY HAS ORGANIZED THEIR PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL MEETING

The Schools in Suhum Municipality has organised their performance appraisal meeting on 10th May, 2024.

The  Municipal Director of Education,  Mrs Angelina Aba Osei-Bonsu welcomed all to the program and said, the School performance appraisal will highlight the successes and shortfall of the Performance of schools in the Municipality. it will also include the assessment of the BECE results and the way forward.

The Suhum Municipal Information Officer, Ivy Agyapomah Appiah,  representing the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive elaborated on the achievements in the  educational sector so far. In terms of Infrastructures, Schools blocked have been built at Suhum Abisim, Esaase, Zor, Suhum Newtown, Suhum Methodist, Nankese KG block among others. She added that, Five hundred (500) dual desk has been provided annually and 2024 dual desk are yet to come.

 In terms of programmes the MCE supported the best teachers awards with  five (5) Fridges, one (1) Plasma television, monetary support and three (3) special awards to selected teachers in the Municipality. She also assured that her doors are always open for any initiative that is aimed at lifting education higher in the Municipality.

The Municipal Examination Officer, Mr. Afasi Dzifa  Richard took participate through the analysis of 2023 BECE results. In all 87 schools were used for the analysis. The number of candidates presented by each circuits were as follows, Suhum Central 494, Suhum East 428, Suhum North 454, Suhum East 301, Akorabo 281, Kukua 142 and  Nankese 380. Total number of boys candidates were 2530 and girls were 2553. He added that Candidates that scored aggregate 7 to 15 were 134, whiles 1207 scored aggregate 16 to 30. 671 scored aggregate 31 to 36.  471 candidates had Aggregate 37and above. In addition, the percentage pass rate for girls were 81.4% whiles boys were 77.8%. The best three (3) performed Schools both Public and Private were awarded with Citation, plaque and Certificates . For the Public schools the first best performed school was Suhum Methodist School and for the Private schools the first best performed school was Equity International School.

The Chair Person,  Barimah Ayekotse ii Praised the teachers and the students for their had work towards the achievement of the results. He encouraged the teachers to raised up so that better results can be obtained in the up coming BECE Examination.  He encouraged the students to take their studies seriously to get good grades.
